SUNBEAM S7 Deluxe

This one here is another one of my favourites.
It is not custom build but a factory bike.

Around 16,000 Sunbeam S7, S7 Deluxe and S8 motorcycles were produced and it is thought that around 10,000! of these still exist, mainly due to the fact that since production started in 1946 there has never been a time when spares were not available, even when the Sunbeam was not a classic motorcycle and production had ended. How many other production line motorcycles can claim this kind of survival rate.
It is quoted that Sunbeam rear drive units are weak and unreliable, this however is not true and was caused by a printing error in a run of the Sunbeam motorcycle handbook. The error stated the wrong oil type which started to degrade the internal phosphor bronze worm gear components. The previous editions and those printed since have all given the correct oil type. With the correct oil the rear drive can last upto 100,000 miles or more, dependant on type of use.

This the Sunbeam S7 Deluxe fitted with Stewart Engineering aftermarket deep sump (Here is an S7 Deluxe without one) and optional pillion pad. In 1949 BSA Motorcycles - Redditch, introduced two new motorcycles the S7 Deluxe and the S8. These models were produced concurrently and the S8 did NOT replace the S7 Deluxe.
Production started with frame number S7-2501 on 27/05/1949 and although these frames are marked with the S7 prefix they are dimensionally different from the earlier S7 components. Production of the S7 Deluxe ended in 1956. Over 5000 examples of this model were produced, cost was around £220.00 when new in 1949.
The S7 Deluxe used the same basic engine as the S8 and the engine numbers on both models start with the S8 prefix. Therefore engine and frame numbers NEVER matched on either the S7 Deluxe or the S8. Many of the components are shared with the S8. This motorcycle was offered in black or mist green (picture below), however some dealers may have provided any colour from the ICI paint range used by the BSA factory.
This model is becoming highly desirable and therefore prices are climbing, it also provides a nice ride and can be very reliable, although the S8 is said to be 'Sportier'. This is the model that most enthusiasts imagine when thinking about Sunbeams, it carriers the popular (now, not necessarily then) balloon tyres, painted interchangeable wheels and cantilever saddle arrangement. There are lots of upgrade modifications available including the extended sump pan shown in the picture above. This increases oil capacity by a pint. Parts are easier to source for this model compared to its predecessor.
Restoration of this model should be fairly straightforward, however because Sunbeams were not produced in the same quantities as other BSA models like A7 and A10's, it should be considered a 'specialist' machine and low quantity spares reproduction means that some parts can be pricey when compared to other motorcycle marques.

MOTO MORINI 9 1/2 S SPORT

Moto Morini 9 1/2 S SPORT
Oberdan Bezzi is an italian industrial designer specialized in mortorbikes design. He is a proffesional, although in this free time he also creates design proposals that he publish in his blog Motosketches. It caught my attention the constant way in which Bezzi works, because he publish at least one sketch every month.

When late last year Moto Morini presented the 2014 models many Morini-fans had enough: the new models were a disappointment, the prices were substantially increased (€ 3,500 for the Corsaro 1200) and although claimed by the new owners from Moto Morini there were still no structural updates.
What do you do when you don't have too much faith in the management, but are still attached to the brand?
A group fanatical Moto Morini fans from Germany decided to take matters in their own hands and entirely in-house to start developing a new Moto Morini following the Oberdan Bezzi design.

Within a week there signed up more than 60 virtual shareholders on the German forum, who paid their share within a few days.
On the forum was a project team, led by Ducati tuning specialist Axel Ickert to the new project, the 9 1/2 sBezziale that is a homage to the old Moto Morini 3 1/2, as he was remembered in 2006 by the Italian designer Oberdan Bezzi.
The project is to follow through their WEBSITE, they hope to be able to reveal the sBezziale this year.

The Moto Morini 3 1/2 from 1973 - 344 cc - 35 HP

Moto Morini 9 1/2 2014? - 1187 cc - 117 HP

So how cool is that!
The factory will not listen to the clients demands or wishes.
So you start building the bike you want yourself with a group of enthusiast who will sponsor the bike.
Not with money but with parts, knowledge, time or just good ideas.

NORTON COMMANDER ROTARY CLASSIC

Unfortunately, again, not mine but found on the Internet for sale.
One off my favorites the Norton Commander Classic.

Number '051', 1,500 miles from new
1988 Norton 588cc Classic
Registration no. F407 AEA
Frame no. LE051
Engine no. LE051

After a lengthy development program commenced in the 1970s by Norton-Villiers-Triumph, Norton's rotary-engined roadster debuted in 1982 as the police-specification Interpol, though it would be 1987 before the motorcycling public got to sample the rotary's excellent handling and smooth, almost vibration-free engine in the form of the un-faired civilian Classic. The Classic used Norton's twin-rotor 588cc engine in its original, air-cooled form (the later Commander was water-cooled), coupled to a five-speed gearbox with left-side 'change. This compact unit was slung beneath a tubular spine frame suspended by Marzocchi at the front and Koni at the rear. Triple disc braking was courtesy of Italian Brembos. With 79bhp on tap, the Classic's performance was on a par with that of contemporary Japanese 600s: a top speed of 125mph and a standing quarter-mile time of 12-and-a-bit seconds being easily achievable. Comparing it with the Honda CBR and Kawasaki GPZ 600s, Bike magazine found that 'the Norton stomps both Japanese bikes on top-gear acceleration from 5,000rpm, where it's a second ahead and moving 7mph faster (at 96mph) than both after a quarter of a mile.' Conceived as a limited edition model - only 100 examples were made - the Classic is today one of the most collectible of modern Nortons.

Number '051' of the 100 built, this Classic was sold new to stockbroker Mr Ian Pritchard and was purchased by the current (third) owner in June 2009 with only 12 miles recorded. When the updated rotor side plates became available, the engine was returned to Norton Motors in July 2007 to have this work carried out (invoice on file) while new tyres were fitted recently as the originals were showing signs of deterioration from age. 'F407 AEA' has covered only 1,500 miles to date and is described as in generally excellent condition. The machine is offered with its original factory certificate, correspondence and purchase invoice; second owner purchase receipt; an original sales brochure; a quantity of expired MoT certificates; current road fund licence; Swansea V5C document; MoT to 18th July 2013; and an owner's manual.

YAMAHA RZ500N 1985 Zero-Miles in a Crate for Sale

Unfortunately not mine but found on the Internet.

Fancy getting your hands on a motorcycle which is exceedingly rare, if you pardon this expression?
Australia has one such machine for sale in Nerang, Queensland: an 1985 Yamaha RZ500N, new and in a crate.

The bike is an Australian model imported by an Yamaha dealership in Brisbane in 1984.
It has never been even started and comes with keys, mirrors, belly pan, books and all, just as it has left Japan.
We're looking at a V, 4-cylinder 2-stroke 499cc beast, apparently created as a street able replica off Kenny Roberts  YZR500 GP machine.
The road bike was lighter but detuned for safety reasons.

The 1985 Yamaha RZ500N is awaiting its new owner in the crate, with a price tag of $38,490 (€22,265) at Trade Motorcycles.

Watch the Unrideables 2 stroke racing at its best.
